- Frances Williams

Frances Williams is one of Australia’s most exciting indigenous singers. Frances has made an impact on the indigenous music scene by being nominated Australia’s most promising new talent at the 2000 Indigenous Deadly Music Awards.

Frances already has received extensive airplay on indigenous radio across Australia; she first came to the public’s attention when her single “Yolngu” received airplay from radio 2JJJ, the CD “Our Home Our Land” was nominated for an Aria award in 1996 which Frances featured on.

Frances has since worked with the hottest talent in the Australian music business including David Bridie, Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Christine Anu, Tiddas, Vika and Linda Bull, Kev Carmody, Kent Steedman (Celibate Rifles), Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil) and Frank Yamma.

With her rich and soulful vocals and sweet harmonies, Frances music and lyrics are inspired by her strong indigenous and islander heritage.

She has performed in festivals, and indigenous events across Australia, and toured PNG with the Sing Sing Concerts with David Bridie, she also completed her NAISDA dance studies in 1994.
