- Rachael Wallis

Rachael Wallis is one the most versatile indigenous dancers in Australia today. Rachael covers both traditional and contemporary dance styles, and has performed with all the leading indigenous dance companies and choreographers in Australia.

Rachael has performed with Bangarra, Descendance, and the Garraburra Dance Groups, with leading indigenous producer Rhoda Roberts, and respected choreographers such as, Marilyn Miller, Albert David, and Rayma and Kerry Johnson.

Career Highlights

*2004-2009 Rachael moves to Arnhem land where she picks up a permanent dance contract as a dance teacher in indigenous communities.

*2005 Descendance at the Dome Olympic Park, nine shows, Rachael dances in a 30 piece dance ensemble to perform at some of the biggest corporate events ever held in Australia for Amway China.

*2004 Rachael employed as Dance teacher with NAISDA.

*2004 Performs in the Descendance project “Flamenco Dreaming” , in fusion with Flamenco, Asian and Arabic dancers.

*2004 Rachael performs in Greece for the prelude to the Olympic Games with leading indigenous choreographer Albert David, they perform in the ground breaking contemporary Torres Strait production “The Giz”

*2003-2007 Australia Day performances with Garraburra Dance Company, produced by Rhoda Roberts, at The Botanic Gardens and Opera House.

*2003 Rachael becomes a principal dancer in the indigenous epic million dollar production "Sydney Dreaming" at Olympic Stadium in Homebush , produced by leading event visionary Rhoda Roberts.

*2003 Opening ceremony of the Rugby Union World Cup at The Olympic Stadium, in the vein of the Olympic Games revisited, Rachael is again at the fore front as a principal dancer in an epic showcase of Indigenous culture.

*2002-2004 Descendance in Sydney: completing corporate work, International Conventions, Schools, Community Work, Festivals, Cruise Liners, workshops and Theatres.

*2002-2004 Rachael is a principal dancer in the ground breaking indigenous experimental work "The Quinkham Project”, working with one of Sydney's leading dance choreographers Marilyn Miller producing the show in stages, and performing the piece at The Adelaide Arts Market in 2004.

*2002 Rachael with Bangarra tours China.

*2002 Rachael with Bangarra performs at the Monaco Dance Forum.

*2001 Rachael performs in the groundbreaking Sydney season of "Walkabout" with Bangarra. This show toured nationally, and was regarded as one of their best productions

*2000 Performs at the Sydney Olympic Games in the opening ceremony watched by millions across the world.

*1999 Rachael graduates at NAISDA , Australia’s leading finishing indigenous dance college.

*1996-1997 Rachel forms her own dance company "Dance Moves” in Sydney, where she is a principal dancer and choreographer.

*1992-1995 Rachael performs across Asia with producers, Dance Encore Productions, Woo Lip Enterprises, and Power Show Enterprises

*1988-1996 Rachael teaches, performs, and gives workshops in dance, in schools throughout the NSW region.
